KowoonKowoon Yang, appreciated as a creative violinist in Korea with her sensitive playing and poetic expression, won many prizes and awards including 1st prize in Max Rostal International Violin Competition in 1998, Lipizer International Violin Competition, Paganini International Violin Competition, and Tibor Varga International Competition. Kowoon has been performing worldwide with many famous orchestras including Moscow Philharmonic, Muenchen Symphoniker, Beijing Central Orchestra, Shang-hi Symphony Orchestra, Wien Concert Ferrein Orchestra, Praha Radio Symphony, KBS Symphony, and others. Kowoon was also invited to play at Wigmore Hall, Bregenz Festival, Seoul Spring Festival, Japan Culture Day in Hotkkaido, and series of concerts at Seoul Arts Center. For her contributions to the music community in Korea, Kowoon received Unpa Music Award and was also selected as one of the best musicians in Korea by KBS (Korea Broadcasting System) for her profound musical ability and achievements in the performing arts. Kowoon received Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston under the guidance of James Buswell, and graduated “Meisterklasse” course in Hochschule für Musik in Muenchen. Kowoon has been a member of Tonus Piano Trio since the year 2000, and also a professor at Kyunghee University, Seoul, Korea. Kowoon was recently invited as a jury member for the Young Tchaikovsky International Competition.
